All roads led to the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel in May as NEPC kicked off its 27th Annual Investment Conference. The meeting brought together our clients, colleagues and industry leaders.
In addition to meeting their peers—chief investment officers, investment committee members, trustees, chairpersons and directors—attendees also heard from our lineup of illustrious speakers. NEPC CIO Tim McCusker hosted a fireside chat with Armen Panossian, head of performing credit and portfolio manager at Oaktree Capital Management.
Attendees also got a sneak peek into 2033 as McCusker explored the impact of technological advancements, global trends and societal shifts over the next decade on investment strategies and portfolios. Asha Mehta, founder and Chief Investment Officer of Global Delta Capital, took the audience around the world as she explored the growth dynamics powering emerging economies. Rounding out day #1, Ben Nemtin, NYT best selling author and the former star of MTV’s The Buried Life shared his approach to living life to the fullest and paying it forward.
Everyone was back for more on day #2, which started with Sarah Samuels, NEPC’s head of investment manager research, talking about the art of getting things done in the investment world. She was a tough act to follow but NEPC partners—KC Connors, Will Forde and Krissy Pelletier—were more than up to the task as they fielded questions from Nina Petkova, a senior investment director, on our firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
Then it was time for the various breakout sessions and, depending on your interest or area of focus, there was something for everyone. From topics ranging from private markets, credit, defined contribution plans to impact investing, OCI and opportunities in China.
The conference ended on a high note with NEPC’s head of asset allocation, Phillip Nelson, summing up our take on the economy, the investment landscape, interest rates and the Federal Reserve. As we draw the curtain on yet another successful conference, we thank everyone who attended and look forward to seeing you next year!
