Krissy Pelletier, NEPC Partner and Head of the firm’s Endowments and Foundations practice, has been named by Pensions & Investments (P&I) magazine as one of the most Influential Women in Institutional Investing. The annual list, released in September 2024, recognizes women who have made meaningful contributions to the institutional investing industry.

After joining NEPC in 2008 as an Analyst, Krissy advanced steadily to her current position as Partner and head of the firm’s Endowments & Foundations practice. Her primary role has been to support mission-aligned private and community foundations – specifically, those that seek to invest for impact, and/or advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals, while also meeting necessary financial targets.

It’s a demanding combination, requiring both quality data and consistent analytical approaches. Krissy’s key accomplishments have been to advance the practice of mission-aligned investing by developing or enhancing the tools and data needed for these clients to achieve success.

For example, Krissy spearheaded an exclusive arrangement between NEPC and As You Sow, arguably the first of its kind, to help clients at The Denver Foundation take a more data-centric approach to DEI. Going beyond existing data standards, they examined both corporate statements and their actions, incorporating such “deep dive” data as hiring practices and reporting transparency. The result was an advancement in DEI analysis and a better outcome for the client.

Krissy’s commitment to mission-aligned institutions stems from a background in the nonprofit space. She valued the relationships she forged in that environment and the passion she found in volunteers and donors. She finds much of the same passion in the nonprofit foundations she works with today.

While most of Krissy’s time is spent on helping nonprofit clients in a professional capacity, she remains an active volunteer, especially when it comes to helping young women advance their careers. She regularly mentors junior employees in NEPC’s allyship program and has joined a number of employee resource groups, including the working parents group. She served as a mentor for Girls Who Invest from 2020 to 2022 and has been on the Board of Trustees at Cushing Academy since June 2021.

This recognition by P&I is just the latest honor for Krissy, having previously been named one of the world’s most influential investment consultants on CIO Magazine’s annual Knowledge Brokers list. Her creative thinking has burnished her reputation as a leader and a problem solver for the clients under her care.
